Melee & −2 specialists Natural rough only 57 facets, cut in house

We cut the sizes most houses send out. Natural rough, planned and polished under one roof, then sieve-sorted for jewellers who cannot afford a bad parcel.

Stage 01 — Sourcing

It begins as a crystal, not a product.

We buy natural rough only, from primary sources and sightholder channels, so every parcel arrives with a paper trail rather than a promise. Each lot is weighed, sealed and logged before it reaches the planning floor.

  • Natural rough only
  • Kimberley Process
  • Parcel-level traceability

Stage 02 — Planning

Mapped before it is ever touched.

Every crystal is scanned in 3D and modelled for inclusions, tension and yield. The software proposes the cuts; our planners argue with it. In small goods that argument is the whole business — a degree of rotation decides how many stones come out of one crystal.

  • Yield modelling
  • Laser marking

Stage 03 — Cutting & polishing

Table, bezel, star, halves.

Fifty-seven facets in a fixed order, held to hundredths of a degree, on stones you need a loupe to see. Each step belongs to a cutter who does that step and nothing else. At −2 there is nowhere to hide a bad angle.

  • Fancy shapes

Stage 04 — Sorting & dispatch

Sieved, sealed, shipped.

Small goods leave sieve-sorted, weighed and sealed by parcel, with the sortment written on the packet. Larger stones leave with an independent lab report. Calibrated layouts arrive matched and ready to set.

Facet anatomy

Fifty-seven facets, every one named.

A round brilliant is not a shape, it is a specification. Tap any facet family to find it on the stone — the same fifty-seven we cut at melee and −2 sizes.

    What we supply

    Small goods, taken seriously.

Melee and −2 are the core of this business, not a side desk. Tell us the sieve sizes and colour range you work in and we will quote against live stock or cut to order.

    −2 and Below

The sizes most houses subcontract. We cut, sort and sell them ourselves, so the sortment matches the packet.

    Standards

    Boring, on purpose.

In melee, a house is judged on whether the parcel opens exactly as described. That is the whole job. These are the numbers behind it.

    Why manufacturers, not brokers

The parcel you open is the parcel we cut.

Most melee changes hands three or four times between the wheel and the bench. Every hand adds a margin and loses a fact. We plan, cut, polish and sort in the same building in Katargam, so when you ask why a packet runs a shade warm, someone here knows.

That also means we can hold a sortment. If your last order was G–H VS in a given sieve range, we can match it next season instead of hoping the market has some.
